Head down to Carlton cause you need to try this new place in town! Recently opened their door on Lygon Street, Shukufuku Japanese Bento will certainly catch your attention with its geometric and bold coloured theme. 'Lego Your Bento' is the motto and you will soon know why. Just like a Lego, you can create and personalise your own bento/ donburi and TwoPaperPen loves it!

Since we were famished, we both decided to get the bento box! All bento box comes with stir fry meat, deep fried side, rice and salad. They also add rice seasoning with the rice to make it more fun and flavourful. Jeany had the beef sukiyaki and spicy chicken egg roll in for her bento box.

The beef sukiyaki is so soft and moist. The broth/sauce and the crunchy fried onion really complements the overall taste. So tasty and so homey.
The egg rolls are the best seller here! Jeany love them for their are savoury and not too salty or oily.
Darwin chosed the hamburg and crab claw option; he was certainly satisfied with the portion.
The crab claw was a delight. On our first bite, we thought that it was delicious and perfect as a side dish. We spot some crab meat inside which was a nice surprise.
As you can see, the bento box's portion is really generous and you really get the value for your money; if you are not really hungry, go for the donburi option instead. Located in area with many student accomodations, Shukufuku really put a lot of thoughts into their interior design. It's not just a destination for express meals, customers can still have their meal in the restaurant without feeling like a fast food chain.
TwoPaperPen also got a chance to meet the friendly team behind Shukufuku. Make sure you say hi when you see them around.
