Komeyui Japanese Restaurant

The first post from Two Paper Pen and it’s a food post!

Located in the quiet part of Port Melbourne, Komeyui Japanese Restaurant sure have been a long time favourite for many, including Darwin and I of course. We usually reserve a table for dinner and time to time, we will find special occasion to visit this establishment.

Large sashimi (just salmon belly and chutoro)
left: chotoro, right: salmon belly
Instead of getting the standard 8 kinds assorted sashimi, we requested for just salmon belly and chutoro (because we can!). Salmon belly sashimi and chutoro melts quite subtly, oozing with fresh goodness.

Chawan Mushi
One of the recommended dish, the Chawan Mushi! Soft egg custard with hidden ingredients inside. I absolutely love the ginkgo nut, so chewy and blends well with the egg custard.

Spicy tuna roll
Their spicy tuna roll is one of our must have. It is as good as the first time we had this and of course we have to order 2 serves because, let's be honest, we need more.

Soft shell crab roll
Eel avocado roll
Large nigiri
Darwin ordered the large nigiri and it was served piece by piece. He loves prawns and he was excited to see some fresh scampi. When I asked him to describe the taste, he said that it was soft and absolutely fresh.

Black cod
One of the favourite main dish by many. You can request up to three pieces of cod if you want a bigger portion.

Ox tongue (100g)
I gained my love for ox tongue after I moved to Melbourne around 8 years ago. When I saw ox tongue on the menu, of course I need to order me some. The taste is absolutely amazing especially with the spring onion garnish.

Complimentary fruit
To conclude dinner, a complementary cantaloupe drizzle with sugar sauce.
